The aim of this study was to assess and evaluate different strategies for increasing the diversity of the workforce at senior levels in the NHS, in order to deal with the problems of black and ethnic minority staff disaffection as well as health inequality amongst black and minority ethnic populations. Recommendations for the future development of interventions are proposed.
