Children, HIV, asylum and immigration: An overview of the current situation for children living with HIV and insecure immigration status
Author: Conway, Magda
Publisher: Children HIV Association (CHIVA)
Publication date: December 2006
This report explores areas of the immigration system and the experiences of children and their families within these, and combines an examination of current policy and legislation with case studies and practitioners' responses. It allows us an insight into the specific issues faced by children infected with, or affected by HIV inside and outside of the asylum system, a group who until now have been silent and their experiences not reported. The recommendations within this report suggest possible changes that would offer practitioners clarity in their work, ensure they can provide the best service available to these children and make a positive impact on their lives and their families.
